个人简介
Professor Kai Liu is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University. Born in Tianmen, Hubei Province, he earned his PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is a recipient of a National High-level Young Talent Program in China.
Professor Liu's research focuses on several key areas within geotechnical engineering, including: multi-field and multi-phase coupling mechanisms of granular materials, multi-field and multi-phase coupling constitutive models of granular materials, excavation-induced engineering structure response mechanisms, and resilience and sustainability in geotechnical engineering. Professor Liu has published over 20 research articles in internationally recognized SCI journals within geotechnical and civil engineering, which includes one highly cited ESI paper. He has also co-edited an international academic monograph.
Professor Liu has secured substantial research funds. He is the PI of one National High-level Young Talent Program and PI or co-PI of two Hong Kong Regional Research grants. He has also served as a key member in a National Key Basic Research and Development Program (973 Program) project and several Hong Kong University Grants Committee research projects. Prior to his academic career, Professor Liu gained six years of practical experience in the engineering survey and design industry, working on dozens of large and medium-scale domestic and international projects, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Professor Liu is actively involved in the professional community, such as member of Technical Committee on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation for Subgrade Engineering (Highway Geotechnical Engineering discipline), member of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the Hong Kong Geotechnical Engineering Society (HKGES), associate member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has organized special issues and served as guest editor for multiple SCI-indexed journals. He is also a reviewer for over 20 SCI-indexed journals, including Géotechnique, Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, and Canadian Geotechnical Journal.
EMPLOYMENT ADVERTISEMENT:
Our research group welcomes applications year-round from prospective doctoral and master's students. We are also permanently recruiting full-time researchers associate research fellows, postdoctoral fellows, research assistants. Candidates with backgrounds in experimental soil mechanics, computational mechanics, geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, civil engineering, or related disciplines are warmly encouraged to apply. We offer support for further study opportunities at universities abroad (e.g., UK, Hong Kong) or within industry (e.g., mainland China, Hong Kong).
