Dr. Pengda Li is an Associate Professor and PhD Supervisor in the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Shenzhen University. He received his MSc degree with distinction from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2012 and his PhD degree from the City University of Hong Kong in 2017. Before joining Shenzhen University, he worked as a Senior Research Associate Fellow at the City University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Li’s research focuses on the mechanical behaviour and damage mechanisms of concrete and concrete structures under complex loading and environmental conditions. His research interests include concrete damage evolution, constitutive modelling under complex stress paths, FRP–concrete composite systems, durability and resilience of coastal concrete structures, and computational modelling of concrete materials and structures. His work aims to understand how stress redistribution, cracking, confinement, and material degradation influence the mechanical performance, durability, and resilience of concrete structures.

Dr. Li currently serves as a member of the International Editorial Board of the ASCE Journal of Composites for Construction. He was included in the Elsevier–Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists list in 2025. His contributions have also been recognized by the Journal of Composites for Construction through the 2024 Best Research Paper Award and the 2025 Outstanding Reviewer recognition.

To date, Dr. Li has published more than 60 SCI-indexed journal papers and has led several research projects funded by national and local funding agencies in China.
