Wenbo Chen, Distinguished Professor and Ph.D. supervisor, has been selected for the National High-Level Young Talents Plan. His research areas include the static and dynamic properties of soils, low-carbon urban geomaterial improvement and remediation, intelligent monitoring of geo-structures using optic fiber sensing, and the application of artificial intelligence and large language models in geotechnical engineering. In recent years, he has published 30 papers as the first/corresponding author in top-tier international journals such as JGGE, CGJ, EG, and ACS, with a total of more than 51 SCI-indexed papers. He has led a project funded by the Research Grants Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region - General Research Fund, Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Young Researcher Supporting Scheme and Start-up Fund each. He serves as a committee member of the World Transport Congress Committee on Highway Geotechnical Engineering, the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Technical Committee, and a member of the Hong Kong Society for Geotechnical Engineers. He also acts as a reviewer for the Research Grants of the University of Macau and guest editor for several international journals. He has twice received the Fugro Prize from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, in 2022 and 2024.
