I welcome students who majored in civil engineering, computer science, mechanics and geology. I am also open to students bringing their own ideas from other majors, that may pertain to offshore wind turbines, earthquake engineering, seismology or distributed optical fiber sensing. If hired, you'll be the part of the Underground Polis Academy (UPA, 深圳大学未来地下城市研究院) lead by Academician Chen Xiangsheng. 

I strive to be a mentor rather than a boss, and cultivate your critical thinking and scientific passion. In my group we work towards continuous communication, team work, and excellence. Under my supervision you will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the top international scientists in the world in the UK, New Zealand, Hong Kong SAR, and Mainland China; moreover, you will have the rare opportunity to go for exchange studies to Europe, Australia or Hong Kong. 

My major topics are:

• AI-powered civil engineering design (AI-powered constitutive models, AI-powered initial design methods, AI-FEM integration)

• Offshore wind engineering (Design of offshore monopiles, Soil stiffness degradation effect on offshore
  wind turbines, Post-disater health assessment)

• Earthquake enigneering (Soil-structure interaction, Site-city interaction, Regional-scale seismic analysis)

• Distributed optical fiber sensing (Optical fiber sensing of seismic events, Optical fiber-based earthquake
  early warning system)

Reasonable English skills are a requirement in my group, as my team includes international students, thus meetings are always conducted in English. 

At Shenzhen University, Master's and PhD program is available both in English and Chinese.
